i had so much shyt to do, am kind of skeptical about putting alot on one bet unless its a later game....there's a few i kinda like but haven't looked at them enough yet...what about you?
I have a very good gut feelin that Orlando wins tonight. Orlando has been beating great opponents and on a streak, while l.a is struggling. I think Howard and Nelson got something to prove tonight
i feel like detroit is due for a win because they've lost 3 straight, plus collison, swift, and Joe smith are all questionable, Detroit should own the paint, they haven't lost 4 straight in 4 years
it kind of scares me because every game i want to parlay is a road team, like 5-6 games, and I know that never happens, some home team will get the job done. Home teams are raking up this year
Detroit, in dire need of win, Ok has 3 bigs questionable but are hot as of late, only lost to Det by 2 in Det
utah/mem
Utah's been bad on the road, memphis has lost 12 of 14 and is not playing good ball right now...arthur and ross probably are out, 2 rotation players...for utah miles and milisap are questionable. utah's beat them 8 out of 9..but like you say, hard to trust them on the road
phx/min
Minnesota has played phx well as of late, phx is coming off a late overtime game last night but Shaq is rested...every game phx, hous, utah, portland, dall plays is kind of like must win because that conference is so tough...i do like min buying the three points +11, but at the same time, phx is inconsistent, when they show up they are scary good
atl/gs
jackson and maggette are back, cj watson and belnelli are out as well as brendan wright...jackson against one of his many former teams, usually when he comes back that first game they get a jolt of energy...atl is not that great on the road, wouldn't be surprised if GS won, but at the same time, that franchise is snakebitten right now with front office problems out the ying yang...though they have a winning record at home
sac/mil
sac coming off a huge triple ot win, confidence is sky high right now...bogut is out, milwaukee has struggled on the road...they have a piss poor record over the last 3 years in games bogut has missed
orl/lal
farmar, vujacic, walton all not playing, 3 rotation players, but odom is back....la 20-2 at home, first game between them came down to the last shot which orlando won. orlando at 7.5 isn't bad, but sometimes la with that crowd just steps up and gets the job done
the pacer game was the one game about all i really liked, the rest is just a crapshoot. but that's my whole strategy, pick the one money bet every night, keep increasing the amount each night that you put on it, and in the meantime, do 1 parlay, so if your money bet loses, you still have a fighting chance at recovering for that day, if they both win, excellent, and if they both lose, always have enough left in the account for one more money bet. As long as you don't lose two money bets in a row, you survive
My parlay ended up being Jazz -2, Pistons -2, Lakers -2, Suns -5
Whenever there's not games I like i pick favorites or home teams, things that if they didn't happen it would be considered semi-surprising...I'm scared about the la game but figured any time you can get a team thats 20-2 at home at -2 its a pretty good bargain.
Yea I am. I normally dont do it but I have a feeling. If im wrong im gonna look real ugly, but if im right im genious. I also love Orlando being that I lived there for 4 years. Even though heart shud have no part in betting
My first kiss was in Orlando when I was 10 with the elected queen of my elementary school, so it will always have a special place in my heart. Plus lots of nice acid trips at all the theme parks there were some of the best times growing up.
But honestly, I think that's very foolish to do, because if Orlando loses you lose everything. Howard can pull up lame and get hurt in the first quarter and you can be done. Why not just put anything other than them in your parlay, even an over/under if you don't like any games? At least then if someone gets hurt, you're not dead in the water, you'll still have a chance to win.
I just seen it happen all to often. And you can be right and win all your bets, that'd be great. To me though, I've had so many experiences in the past where the game I liked the most something flukey happened with an injury. But then I'll check back, and the parlay that I just threw out there not giving any thought ended up hitting, and just like that I was saved. Do you understand what I mean?
like last night for instance. You could have loved cleveland and they did jump out to an early 10 point lead. But then West went down, and that injury is why Chicago came back and won
I don't think my sportsbook offers the same kind of bets your does, I need to check the more complex bet offers they provide. I know they have daily props, like how many points a player will score, first team to score a basket, etc...
Whenever I get up enough money I like betting college too. There its alot more basic, just pick the favorite and hope they get the job done. At times to me it seems even a little easier than the pros.
I also like doing 7 point 3 team teasers in the NBA. Just don't like that if you push, you lose
I love teasers. U shud have the same bets as me if u have the player props and the team props. That bet i did with 23/2 and 13/2 odds are under the team props
well today really wasn't my best effort, didn't get a chance to read any of the teams newspapers which i really like to do and will do if i hang in long enough to make bigger bets.
I'm more concerned that we both agree on the same main bet. The parlays are whatever, you're going to have your opinions, I'm gonna have mine. It's good that we pick different teams, that way if one of us gets hot it can benefit us both. If I see someone nailing bets left and right I'm definitely gonna jump on and not ask questions
The main things I look at in money bets are: I usually like picking the home team unless its some sort of strange circumstance. I usually like taking the better overall team, the team with more talent. And I like taking either a team thats in a stretch where they are playing well or one where they are desperate for a win. That's why I like reading the papers, its gives you a better overall aura of a team on a given day. Like they could lose, but you read the papers and see that the coach is still happy with their performance.
I also try to pick the one game where I think the team will beat the spread by the most out of all the games. Once you find yourself doing that consistently that's when you are officially on point and in a good grove. But all it takes is one day of not paying attnention, or one fluke injury to end a winning streak.
Man I hate Popovich. There down by 13 going into the 4th, so he punishes the team by playing the bench players the entire rest of the game. Having Ginobli and Parker on my fantasy team, it hurts
can't believe what cleveland is doing to New Orleans right now. Also Philly is scorching hot. I picked them at the beginning of the year to lose to Boston in the Conference Finals
still trying to figure out where those hornet uniforms originated from? It's not like the Hornets have that much of a history. Must be when they were the Jazz perhaps? But shouldn't Utah be wearing those?
OKC beating Detroit by 13 with 4 min left. Im telling u man, OKC is scary at home, and Krstic makes then a bit better too. Pistons just arent the same tough defensive team they used to be
well as good as they're playing, they still have the 2nd worst home record in the league. I don't mind losing to those odds. Detroit though is having a meltdown, probably will make a trade as a result of their losing streak
That's what sucks about not having the league pass. Not seeing different arenas, getting a grasp of how different home crowds react on a night to night basis. Like I'm sure the year Wade was a rookie if I was some dude living in Sacramento and never saw the Heat play, I wouldn't really believe that Wade was that good, or that the team itself was legit. That's how I feel now about teams like Oklahoma, Minnesota, Memphis, I never get to see how they run their offense, or how sharp the are on defensive rotations.
Yea, the only actual time I see these teams play is when NBA TV goes live. But OKC is dangerous everytime ive seen them. Minnesota can be dangerous as well, but I agree league pass is crucial
Minnesota beat Phoenix.. I just had a feeling. And Milwaukee is up by 20 at half. So it looks like im gonna win by 2 team parlay. I need Atlanta to win, and Orlando win by a few or lose by a few
man the eastern conference is catching up to the West. Philly raping San Antonio tonight, Cleveland raping New Orleans, Milwaukee going into Sacramento and just murdering them.
You just look at the West after the Lakers and honestly, it's all kind of shady, every one is flawed is some major way. New Orleans, Utah, Houston, Phoenix, Dallas all have serious issues although Utah's and Houston's is more because of injuries. Denver and Portland are overachieving but none of those teams really scare the bejesuses out of you.
Orlando, Boston, and Cleveland are pretty much dominant to all the West teams other than LA. And the East's worst teams are all considerably better than the West, although Minnesota and Oklahoma have bright futures with good young nucleuses.
You can kind of see a transformation happening, a changing of the guard. 3 years from now I think alot of the teams at the bottom will be closer to the top.
yeah i totally forgot horford was still out. That's huge. Plus Golden State when they're back healthy has one of the sickest starting lineups in the NBA, they just suck bad when Jackson and Ellis are out. Ellis is one of my favorite players in the NBA. When I first came to the blog I used to get into wars because I said he was next Iverson, possibly better because he can get to the rim as good as anybody in the league.
Iverson's a hall of famer but one of the most overrated players IMO because ever since early in his career his play doesn't correlate with winning and he has a horrible shot selection. Ellis shot 53% from the field last year which for a guy his size is unheard of.
But honestly outside of Lebron, I think he's as good as any player at getting to the rim and finishing, including Wade. He has the ability to just jump over people and his hang time is unlike any I've seen
Bro, if Orlando can pull this thing out by 1-2 points ill make 350, and if they win by 3-6 ill make 225, Its looking interesting right now, but Kobe looks too good right now
Im sorry I didn't accept your generous offer of a signed pair of shoes. I think they were even my size.
The NBA tells me a tech should have been called on you for throwing the elbow and that I should pay a 25k dollar fine because owners aren’t supposed to get mad. Ever.
In the spirit of the joy of my getting fined and your not getting the tech, have the Nuggets PR folks contact the Mavs PR folks and I will donate 25k to the charity of your choice.
Unless of course your coach thinks that the wrong thing to do, or the NBA says I can’t because it would be a violation of a rule. In which case, I will find a charity that I think you would like and make the donation in your name.'
definitely with you on celtics and 76ers, lukewarm on the bucks and blazers. Cats are playing good ball as well, should be a good game. The way I see it it might come down to Bayliss. Dude stepped up and dropped 23 last game, he was a big reason why they scored 38 in that 4th quarter against NJ. All reports are that he's the real deal, everyone seems real impressed by him
that's kind of why i left bodog, they took forever sometimes to post lines.
that article is money..man i need to go back into the archives from about a month ago when I said "when Jermaine O Neal comes on Pat Riley's tv screen, everything in the earth stops". I swear alot of people on the blog are downplaying it because they don't want me to be right. They'd rather even see the Heat lose if it came down to it.
the thing is I bet Riley has been watching him all year. His job is the gm. All he basically has to do sit in his mansion and watch the league pass, keeping an eye on who he wants. The fact that Brad Miller and O'Neal are the only two that fit the bill as far as free agents go, I'm sure he's been watching them all year.
I honestly think this deal has been worked out already. Obviously they are sharp enough businessmen to do so without leaking it. I think the delay was because Riley wanted to make sure James Jones was 100% so he didn't end up thin at that position
when ira's blog gets fixed i need to go back to the archives from the day marion came here. I brought up trading for him on the day we got rid of Shaq. It was basically Brand, Okafor, and O'neal as the three guys i thought riley would go after.
Yea..Whatever we do, I dont wanna give up cook under any circumstance..Ill give away Jones over him...But omg if he cud package marion with either blount or banks..woww
Yea if u wanna go back and find the archives u can. But everyone knows u were the one that brought it up. If u do that u know there gonna hate and tell you to gfu lol
the thing is i'm so strapped for cash and I have such a little bankroll to work with that i have to slowly work my way up. Right now I can only do 1 bet and 1 parlay to have enough left over in case i lose. The boston game is at 1:00. I'll probably pass on it just because i want to ensure i have enough to place bets at night.
Detroit/New Orleans should be interesting. Paul had his first ejection tonight. Also Orlando/Denver, great game...the Charlotte/Portland game I'd definitely watch if i could. Tomorrow would be the perfect day to have the league pass
man you don't even know how heated it used to get on the blog when I first came on. I had to fight off 10 people at at time, literally. Josh had this huge clique of people and they were always biased and always wrong but because they were all on the same side they made it look like you were the dumbazz. And they didn't even watch the games, just were big stat geeks, and reallll stubborn too. Eventually things I predicted started to unfold so they finally backed off. But it was a struggle for a long time, it got real personal too. I had to take 2 months off completely because it just wasn't worth it, arguing with people who's opinions are concrete, never letting the actual games being played sway their original posts because players they genuinely disliked they will always genuinely dislike
i always use covers.com to check the history between teams. It will show you their last 10 matchups, plus any trends between the teams that are statistically significant
i just wonder why is the sa spread only 3.5? Seems like Vegas is up to something. I guess they see it that chicago is good at home, the spurs on a back to back, but at least poppovich took out his starters so they're well-rested
My betting site wont allow me to use the philly game in anything but a single bet as of right now, so im waiting to see if it changes. If it doesnt im gonna put money on a single bet for philly
Mervstafa (Irvine, CA): Thoughts on the overachieving Miami Heat? Particularly DWade and Coach Spo?
SportsNation J.A. Adande: This season goes right behind Wade's run to the 2006 championship when it's time to list his credentials. He's doing so much for this team...I'd say even more than LeBron does for the Cavs.

Alright lets get to this
i had so much shyt to do, am kind of skeptical about putting alot on one bet unless its a later game....there's a few i kinda like but haven't looked at them enough yet...what about you?
I dont LOVE any one game. But theres 4 games that im considering
I like ATL against GS at -1 and a half
I like Orlando against L.A at +4 and a half
I like Milwaukee at Sactown
I like Minn against Suns at +8
Those 4 can be a parlay or teased down
Then I also like Orlando Beating L.A by 1-2 points for 23/2 odds
and/or
Orlando Beating L.A by 3-6 for 13/2 odds
interesting....and the games i liked are Indy, Det, and Utah
but like you said, I don't love any, least were on the same page there
Utah scares me on the road, and OKC scares me at home and their feeling confident. Indy I kinda like tho
I have a very good gut feelin that Orlando wins tonight. Orlando has been beating great opponents and on a streak, while l.a is struggling. I think Howard and Nelson got something to prove tonight
This is Indy's easiest game before going on a litte road trip, though Jermaine O Neal i think is going to play
I'm starting out small and if i win I'm gonna keep doubling my bet...i took Indy at -2, since we both liked it
orlando......la being 20-2 at home kinda scares me
i'm pretty sure orlando won there last year
Ok, ill take indy, and I think we shud take orlando.
and for 23/2 odds if they win by 1-2 is interesting.
and/or
they win by 3-6 for 13/2 odds
I put 10 down for orlando to win by 1-2, and 10 down for orlando to win by 3-6.
I did a parlay
Minn +8
Milwaukee
Orlando +4
Atlant -1
what does that mean 23/2?
23/2 odds. U put down 4 bucks and ull be making 46$
i feel like detroit is due for a win because they've lost 3 straight, plus collison, swift, and Joe smith are all questionable, Detroit should own the paint, they haven't lost 4 straight in 4 years
r they gonna win by 5 or more tho in a rowdy OKC crowd?
well when i do parlays alot of the time i'll buy the 3 points or even do moneylines, especially for road favorites
Ok tru..Im pissed I didnt get the Indiana bet off in time
Is sheed playing, I know he missed practice
it kind of scares me because every game i want to parlay is a road team, like 5-6 games, and I know that never happens, some home team will get the job done. Home teams are raking up this year
basically here's my quick break down
Det/Ok
Thats a good breakdown...I really dont love any game. Hopefully my parlay works. Im thinkin about Detroit tho..U gonna bet on Orlando or nah
i don't know, thinking about it
the pacer game was the one game about all i really liked, the rest is just a crapshoot. but that's my whole strategy, pick the one money bet every night, keep increasing the amount each night that you put on it, and in the meantime, do 1 parlay, so if your money bet loses, you still have a fighting chance at recovering for that day, if they both win, excellent, and if they both lose, always have enough left in the account for one more money bet. As long as you don't lose two money bets in a row, you survive
Yea very true. I got one 4 team parlay, and 2 single money bets at only 10$ that could yield 160$
Lol we went opposite on everything
With Orlando though, aren't you putting all your eggs in one basket?
Yea I am. I normally dont do it but I have a feeling. If im wrong im gonna look real ugly, but if im right im genious. I also love Orlando being that I lived there for 4 years. Even though heart shud have no part in betting
Thinkin about it now I shud have left Orlando out of the Parlay lol
I just did a 2 team parlay minnesota +8 and Milwaukee
My first kiss was in Orlando when I was 10 with the elected queen of my elementary school, so it will always have a special place in my heart. Plus lots of nice acid trips at all the theme parks there were some of the best times growing up.

Wow u won that indy bet by a half a point!!
Oh wait my bad its not over...its close
i just downloaded 2 dope azz mix cds. A busta rhymes one and a brand new clipse...can never go wrong with those 2!
can't believe what cleveland is doing to New Orleans right now.
New Orleans looks terrible.. Banks new mixtape is the best ive heard from him in 3 years. Also if uve heard Finale & Spier 1200-Develop is nice
What's Bank's mixtape called?
The Cold Corner
OKC beating Detroit by 13 with 4 min left. Im telling u man, OKC is scary at home, and Krstic makes then a bit better too. Pistons just arent the same tough defensive team they used to be
copped it
Fa sho
well as good as they're playing, they still have the 2nd worst home record in the league. I don't mind losing to those odds. Detroit though is having a meltdown, probably will make a trade as a result of their losing streak
Man the pistons killed ur parlay
Yea they might have to. Lebron is ballin..wow

nice, so looks like we're both gonna end up on the plus side for the first day. Not bad considering it was kind of scattered
Agree about the conferences. Eastern elite teams>Western Elite Teams. Scum of the east as sledge wud say>scum of the east.
Im afraid Atlanta might screw up my parlay.. There just hurting real bad without Horford, and a lack of a solid bench
Hahaha Shaqs new commercial with the scrabble table is hilarious
Michael Redd with 42 at the 3rd quarter
yeah i totally forgot horford was still out. That's huge. Plus Golden State when they're back healthy has one of the sickest starting lineups in the NBA, they just suck bad when Jackson and Ellis are out. Ellis is one of my favorite players in the NBA. Check this out, it has every team's record vs the spread (under their overall record)

Bro, if Orlando can pull this thing out by 1-2 points ill make 350, and if they win by 3-6 ill make 225, Its looking interesting right now, but Kobe looks too good right now
Good looks. thats useful
Damn..I knew ATL would be my downfall... I told u this Orlando game was gonna be close
OMG I think im gonna win!
I won my 13/2 odds hell yea! I told u Gkall I had a gut feeling about Orlando!!!
nice job bro!
so tell me how that works again because I've never heard of those kind of bets. What would have happened if Orlando would have won by 7?
I would have lost. Its just based on the range u pick.
So for instance Orlando winning by 1-2 would give me 23/2 odds
Orlando winning by 3-6 would give me 13/2 odds
Orlando winning by 7-10 would give me 15/2 odds
The flipside If i thought L.A was gonna win
If L.A won by 1-2 the odds would be lower cuz they were favored maybe 8-2 odds.
L.A winning by 20-25 would probably give u high odds like 30/2.
So if u put 10 bucks down ur gonna make some serioouss money
Man idunno why. But Iras blog is down for me. It only shows me 25 posts in each blog
'Dear JR.

those particular bets, are they available for every game? what sportsbook do you use?
Not every game, but id say at least half of games. I use Bodoglife.com
Have you looked at tomorrow's games yet?

definitely with you on celtics and 76ers, lukewarm on the bucks and blazers.
Haha I know. U predicted it over a month before there was even any talk or chatter about it
the thing is I bet Riley has been watching him all year.
Alright so for sures going into tommoro.
Spurs -3 against Chicago
Sixers -3 against Knicks
Boston -7 against Nets (Prob buy Pts)
when ira's blog gets fixed i need to go back to the archives from the day marion came here.
Im in the same boat as u in terms of money. I have very little wiggle room..
man you don't even know how heated it used to get on the blog when I first came on.
Yea Josh is reallll stubborn
Im not gonna do the boston bet either, I rather put more money into the San Antonio game.
i always use covers.com to check the history between teams.
Maybe cuz chicago beat cleveland..Alright so tell me what bets ur doin for tonight son
I did a single bet on the Spurs
and I did a parlay with Bucks -3 and Portland -3
My betting site wont allow me to use the philly game in anything but a single bet as of right now, so im waiting to see if it changes. If it doesnt im gonna put money on a single bet for philly

Mervstafa (Irvine, CA): Thoughts on the overachieving Miami Heat? Particularly DWade and Coach Spo?
SportsNation J.A. Adande: This season goes right behind Wade's run to the 2006 championship when it's time to list his credentials. He's doing so much for this team...I'd say even more than LeBron does for the Cavs.
